Basilica of Bom Jesus, Old Goa


Built in 1604, the Basilica of Bom Jesus houses the holy relics of St Francis Xavier. St. Francis Xavier died on Sancian Island while enroute to mainland China on 2 December, 1552. The body of the saint has been kept at the Basilica since 1554. The remains of the saint attract a huge number of devotees from all over the world specially during the public viewing of his body which takes place every ten years. 

A visit to Goa will be incomplete without a visit to this beautiful and holy site. The Basilica of Bom Jesus is located in Old Goa about 10 kms from Panjim.
